The Penultimate

We apologize for the late update! It was a busy last few days in Jamaica, the Internet stopped working the last day, and it's been a crazy week of readjustment back to the States. Regardless, let's walk through Wednesday.

We breakfasted, as usual, at 8:30am.

After breakfast, we split up into our work groups. Many of these jobs are weeklong projects, so we continued to paint,

laid down the foundation for new tile,

and leveled the rock, dirt, and tile mix that comprises the underlayer of what would be a concrete floor (although the only picture we have shows us working hard at taking a break).

We ate soup and sandwiches for lunch, shortly after which a deluge of rain came upon us. Unfortunately, this prevented our going to New Hope, but it did afford us the opportunity to go to the Manchester Infirmary.

The infirmary, similarly to the children's home, is a place where individuals go whose families can no longer afford to take care of them. We sat with them, listened to their stories, talked to them, and sang with them.

On our way home from the infirmary, we made a quick stop at a local grocery store, where we bought snacks and liters upon liters of Ting, which is a grapefruit-flavored pop.

Upon our return, we walked to Big Tree, about a quarter mile away.

We also had dinner there: jerk chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and dampers.

Dampers are dough that you wrap around a stick and cook over the fire. Once cooked, you fill them with guava jelly and enjoy.

We followed our trip to Big Tree with our evening routine of devotions and worship. Stay tuned for Thursday's update; it's coming soon!
